AI visibility is not a separate project. If you build a personal brand properly, using what I call the Visibility Triangle™, you will automatically be seen, recognised, cited and recommended by AI. The triangle has three layers, your website, podcasts and media, and every one of them was already worth building for reasons that have nothing to do with AI.
Visibility Triangle™: website at the base, then podcasts, then media. Not three random tactics, but one connected system that makes you visible, trusted and relevant in the AI era.
The website sits at the bottom, because if you want to build a personal brand, you need one. I know there are people out there saying you do not need a website, and that is absolutely true if all you want to do is make sales. But if you want a personal brand that is AI future-proof, you need a website, because it is your hub. It is where your prospects, your clients, podcast hosts and the media find you, and more importantly, it is where AI finds you and connects all the dots.
So the foundation is a website that is AI readable, with content on it. The second layer is reaching out to podcasts and speaking on them. The third layer is reaching out to the media and getting in, because that is the highest level of trust and the biggest trust signal you can build with AI.
What you should take away is that these are not three random tactics. It is one connected system, and everything in it makes you visible, trusted and relevant in the AI era.
Your website is your trust hub, because it gets visited by clients, by prospects, by the media, by podcast hosts, and by AI. Clients, media and podcast hosts all want to verify that you are a real person, that you are a human.
In the AI era, that is something you have to keep in mind, because we cannot only fake posts anymore, we can fake videos too. The other day I was watching a video by some guru, genuinely interested in what he was saying, and at a certain point he said, “I am the AI avatar of.” I did not see the difference. That is how good it already is, and it is only getting better. So everything in this era comes down to building trust and visibility.
Your website needs to be AI readable, which means schema markup. It needs a blog, and it needs a media and PR page, and it needs certain trust signals on it. That is work you do once and then maintain, not something you have to redo all the time.
Then you want content on it. Content shows your prospects that you are an expert, and it helps them understand what they are looking for, because they arrive with questions. In blog posts written for search intent, you give them the answer. The media will go to your website, hosts will go to your website, and with that content there they will automatically see you as an expert, because they can see you talk about these things all the time.
The takeaway is that your website is the one piece of ground you own. You own nothing else. And it is the hub that turns visitors from every channel into trust.
If you want to build a personal brand, you want to speak on podcasts, because on a podcast you are in someone’s ears for 30 to 60 minutes, and that builds trust far faster than anything else out there.
You also cannot fake it. You cannot send an avatar to a podcast interview. It is a third-party endorsement where people hear that you actually know what you are talking about. With social media posts you can fake it, because you can ask AI and it writes the post for you. But in a real, genuine conversation about your expert topic, you either know it or you do not.
Niche podcasts also put you directly in front of your ideal client. There are so many special interest podcasts out there, and by getting on the right one you get access to your ideal client without running ads. Ads have their place and you can run them, but you do not have to, because every podcast has its ideal listener. Find the right show and you tap into an audience of ideal clients.
On top of that, each episode is long-form natural language content that AI can read inside. Most podcast hosts also publish the episode on YouTube, and YouTube is one of the biggest search engines out there and the fourth most cited website by AI. So when you speak on podcasts you build trust, you create long-form natural language content, and that content is readable and citable by AI at the same time.
This is also where topic density comes in. You need to be very clear about which topics you want to talk about, and the more often you talk about them, the easier it becomes for AI to cite you. Notice that getting cited is a side product here. The thing you are actually doing is building a personal brand by accessing other people’s audiences.
And episodes stay searchable for years. In my first business I worked as a breakup and divorce coach, and I spoke on a lot of podcasts. People reached out to me five years after an episode went live saying they had just listened to it and would love to work with me.
You also never know who is listening. I have had clients get approached by other hosts and invited onto other shows, and that happens naturally. But they also got invited into JV partnerships and onto live stages, things you would never have imagined, and why? Because people already heard that they can speak.
The takeaway is that a podcast is a borrowed audience, citable content and a relationship engine, all in one conversation.
Media is the highest trust signal you can get and the strongest third-party endorsement out there, because everybody knows that not everyone can get into the media.
It is also something you cannot pay your way into. I know a lot of people think they can, for example by becoming a Forbes Council member. I have to break the news: Forbes Council is not Forbes, it is a third party, and if you have been a Forbes Council member you will never be able to write for Forbes, because of a non-compete agreement. That deserves its own article.
The bottom line is that you cannot buy your way into the media, and if you pay for placement, it is always marked as paid. People see that you paid for it, and it loses all of its trust, because anybody with the money can have it. Editorial earned coverage is different. You get in with expertise, not with money.
And one article can reach millions. If you have been featured in Forbes, Business Insider, Cosmopolitan or any other large publication, people automatically assume that you know your stuff, that you are an expert.
With media, as with podcasts, you never know who is reading. In my first business, a publisher reached out after seeing me in a publication and asked whether I wanted to write a book with them. I said yes, I wrote the book, we marketed it together, and it became a bestseller. That book helped me build my personal brand, and it also helps AI verify me as an expert.
There are two routes into the media, and it is worth understanding the difference. You can be a featured expert, which means a journalist interviews you and writes the article, so the journalist is in charge of the message and the angle. Or you can be a contributor, which means you write the article yourself and get paid for it, and you get an author bio underneath that can link to your website or your lead magnet.
As a contributor, you pitch an idea to the right editor and they help you write the article. You do not have to be a journalist, which is exactly why there are editors. Find the right editor, pitch an idea, write the article, let them help you edit it, and it gets published.
The takeaway is that media gives you reach, a trust signal AI cannot fake, and opportunities you would never have gone looking for.
You do not need a website if all you want to do is make sales, and that is genuinely true. But if you want a personal brand that is AI future-proof, you need one, because your website is the hub where prospects, clients, podcast hosts, the media and AI all find you and connect the dots. It is also the one piece of ground you own, since you own nothing else.
Because you are in someone’s ears for 30 to 60 minutes, which builds trust far faster than anything else, and because you cannot fake it. You cannot send an avatar to a podcast interview, and in a real conversation about your expert topic you either know it or you do not. On top of that, every episode is long-form natural language content that AI can read and cite, and it stays searchable for years.
Not into editorial earned coverage, which is the kind that carries trust. Paid placement is always marked as paid, and once people see that, it loses its value, because anybody with the money could have bought it. Earned coverage is won with expertise, which is exactly why it works as a trust signal.
As a featured expert, a journalist interviews you and writes the article, which means the journalist controls the message and the angle. As a contributor, you write the article yourself, you get paid for it, and you get an author bio underneath that can link back to your website or lead magnet. For the contributor route you pitch an idea to the right editor, and they help you edit it, so you do not need to be a journalist.
By building the three layers rather than chasing AI directly. A professional, AI readable website with content, podcast appearances that create citable long-form content, and media coverage that acts as a third-party trust signal will over time also earn you a Google Knowledge Panel, which is the highest level of trust. AI visibility is the side effect of doing the personal brand work properly.
This is what I have taught my clients for years, and it is the framework for building a powerful, impactful personal brand. Follow the steps and you will automatically be seen, recognised, cited and recommended by AI, because a professional website plus podcasts plus media adds up over time to a Google Knowledge Panel, and that is what gets you recommended.
But the triangle does not only give you AI visibility. It gives you book deals. It gets you invited onto stages. If you commit to the contributor route, it creates a new income stream. You get reach, you build authority, you get opportunities you never expected, and you can create income you never planned for.

I work with founders, CEOs, and established entrepreneurs to build real authority through strategic media, top-tier podcast interviews, and Google-verified credibility. I’ve been where you are now, and not only have I spent 23+ years inside the media industry as a former journalist and PR consultant—learning how visibility, trust, and authority actually work—but I’ve also built and scaled my own business in the coaching industry for over 12 years using SEO and PR long before “personal branding” was a buzzword. I’ve made the mistakes, tested what actually moves the needle, and distilled it all into my proprietary frameworks: the Visibility Triangle™ and the Publicity Rockstar™ Method.
